Water, Water Everywhere

On The Fulton Chain of Lakes

The Old Forge Region has water. Lots of water. From hundreds of remote lakes, ponds and streams to raging whitewater rivers. And in the center of the Old Forge Region is the Fulton Chain of Lakes. A series of 13 connected lakes. Old Forge Lake through 4th lake have a combined shoreline well in excess of 200 miles and are each accessible to one another. There are several boat launches, marinas , fuel stops and lakeside restaurants. Excellent fishing and watersports of every nature.

Although all connected, 5th Lake through 8th Lake are accessible through other portages; some motor-free.  The annual 90 mile Classic Canoe begins in Old Forge Lake, taking advantage of the entire Fulton Chain of Lakes, Raquette Lake and beyond.

Locally, there are several area merchants which sell and rent watercraft, including canoes, kayaks, tubes, jetskies and motor boats. So you if don't own your own toys, there is still ample opportunity to take advantage of all the natural beauty this area has to offer.

If it's watersports you're into, you need look no further than the Fulton Chain.
